Get a good night's sleep with curtains & bedding

Who has a perfect night sleep every single night? I hope no-one has, as for me, it can be a real struggle. I am a little odd, I love going to bed late but also waking up early, but that doesn't mean I don't like my sleep. Sleep is very important, the evenings are longer these days and the warmer nights make it even harder to sleep.  It has come to my attention of how certain parts of the bedroom are important. From your bedding to your curtains, these may seem not a big deal to your room, but all these add up to complete your bedroom.  After a nap, I always feel terrible and wake up thinking it's 2020, this can be because we fall asleep in a bright room surrounded by many noises.

How curtains help in sleeping better

Curtains are a key part of the bedroom, they can complete a room in more than one way, firstly, they bring an overall aesthetic yet they also block everything, which brings a calming touch to the bedroom. Having a poorly choice curtain can make a huge difference, thin curtains would not do it justice, we don't want to wake up from a peaceful sleep with street lights blaring in our eyes at 3 in the morning. I get distracted way too easily!

There are many types of curtains however it's important for you to get the right one. I make sure I do a lot of research on the products I want, I want to be able to get something that not only looks good but for it to also last a long time and is beneficial for me. Since having my own house, I have become excited about the little things in life, like buying curtains. Pencil pleat curtains have stood out the most for me, you can just tell by the look of them that they do the right job for you, yet they can also make the room stand out. Pencil pleat provides an appealing style with fantastic coverage for your bedroom windows. They create a soft, ambience but an impressive look in your bedroom, the tight folds give a strong yet presentable look. Choosing the right curtains will become beneficial in many ways, for the newest pencil pleat curtain range see from Yorkshire linen web store

Now that the room is looking peaceful, we need to make sure that we're feeling comfortable in our bed. Nobody likes tossing and turning throughout the night. Having the right bed linen and bedding makes all the difference, we spend a lot of hours each day in bed so investing in the right bedding will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. Since moving in, I have become a tiny bit obsessed with looking at bedding.  I love a good stare when my bed is all done up, as for one, I am out of breath, but another thing is how beautiful and comfortable your bed can look, it makes it that little bit exciting to jump into bed. No-one ever said no to a duvet day. Here are a few of my favourites I want to share with you all…

They have a wide range, from shabby chic to vintage along with also having good down and anti-allergy duvets.

If you want a stunning bed linen and something a little bit different, Zara is the place to go. Their satin duvet covers are beautiful.

When it's done right sometimes crisp cotton with a touch of precious cashmere is all you need.

I hope I have inspired you on how to get a peaceful bedroom and have the perfect nights sleep every night now.

Life update | Dealing with a poorly cat

Hey everyone, I love reading peoples life updates or watching vlogs, and I just thought, why not do a little chit chat myself?! I tend to never write a blog post on my life update as I work full time. So this is more of a weekend update, and it's been a bit of a shitty one as Kitty, (my cat) has been ill.

As you can gather from my recent blog posts and if you follow me on social media, I adore my cat. He has been quite ill, with being sick most nights and not eating his food. It's hard having a poorly cat, as you have no clue what is up with them. Since moving house, I feel Kitty struggles to enjoy it here as it is very different to where he previously lived before. He was very much an outdoor cat, getting lots of exercises and fresh air, and now he just sleeps most days and is very lethargic.

My boyfriend and I work the same hours every week and Kitty honestly sleeps from the moment we leave to when we come back. Why can't I have this life?! He must be so lonely, I get that cats are very different from dogs, they don't need so much of the attention, but Kitty loves it. And I love it. With being asleep most of the day, this means he is super hyper at night. I'm not a huge sleeper, I mean I do love sleeping - who doesn't?! But I like to go to bed late and wake up early (I am weird like that), and I struggle to sleep much anyway. This week, however, I have hardly slept a wink, Kitty has been vomiting and crying most nights, It is honestly like having a baby, and I did not sign up for this life yet.

I was planning to do a blog post on how to deal with a poorly cat, but I have no clue on how you do deal with it. I am not an expert and wouldn't want to say the wrong thing. Luckily, we managed to get an appointment at the vets straight away and took him back to where he used to live. Unfortunately, Kitty was sick all in his cage on the way there. I got so upset seeing him ill, as we had a dog not long ago and she just suddenly died of cancer, we had no idea, and it happened all so quickly.  I never want it to happen again. It is the worst feeling ever. The vets said it could be constipation, Kitty hated being there and let's just say he is probably mentally scarred now but £53 later (so expensive!), we got the medication he needed.

We got back and finally got to start on Black Mirror, it is so messed up, but I am loving it. We played a little table tennis and ate so much food, as usual. Yesterday made me so happy, as Kitty was soooooo much better, he was eating again and seemed a lot like his usual self. I feel like a proud mother to a furry child. We have left Kitty to stay there for a few weeks and hoping he feels a lot better.

I hope for those that did read all of this enjoyed my chat and will keep you all posted with more updates and pictures of Kitty soon :)

What I have learnt since moving away

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

It has been a whole year since I've moved away from Lincoln and I have learnt so much about myself. I thought it would be easy peas dealing with bills and maintaining a house, and boy was I wrong...

It can be scary leaving your family and friends, and it's especially terrifying going somewhere where no one knows you. You don't realise how stressful it can actually be. Paying bills and buying food is not fun in the slightest. I couldn't wait to do the weekly shopping at my local supermarket, I now despise this, when you have kids running around and people dawdling, you just want to do online shopping forever - even that is a giant ballache. Here a few things that I have learnt so far.
YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO VISIT YOUR FAVOURITE RESTURANT AS MUCH. Lincoln doesn't have a lot of restaurants, but they sure do have a fair few that are now my all-time favourites. I would love to do a post on this soon, and if you do ever visit Lincoln, YOU NEED to visit Ribs'n'Bibs. You will not regret this.

YOUR CAR CAN FIT YOUR HOUSE. It took about 3 or 4 trips in my car to bring absolutely everything over however I made it possible. When you get told, the day before may I add, that you cannot have a rental van (even though everything was agreed) we had to fit everything in the car, and my car is tiny. Luckily, it worked. And I never want to do this ever again.

CHEAP FLAT PACK WILL BREAK WITHIN 6 MONTHS. You won't have much money and the majority of what you will buy will be crap. I don't like building things, never have done, and I never will.

YOU HAVE TO CLEAN YOUR OWN MESS. I miss living back at home and not doing housework,  I forget how much you have to do, and it is such hard work. It is such a ballache, but I love that feeling (15 minutes of it), of a clean house.

LIFE BACK HOME GOES ON WITHOUT YOU. Being away, you miss out on everything that goes on back at home. It doesn't get easier. I do love coming back and spending as much time with them, and it helps the drive there & back is pleasant for me too.

YOU WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH SPIDERS ON YOUR OWN. I hate spiders. I have to admit, this one is the hardest.  I try my hardest to deal with them, as I cannot deal with the thought of a spider running around the house. Why do the huge spiders choose to come to my house?!

YOU MAY LOSE PAST FRIENDS AND ITS OKAY. I expected this to happen, it did bother me at first, but you will honestly make new and better friends.

YOU WILL BECOME A LOT MORE INDEPENDENT. I have learnt so much in the past year from learning how to deal with finances and even knowing how to work a washing machine (crazy!). Being away from family and being far away, you have to learn how to deal with many things, and it may be hard but you will become a stronger person, and it's a good feeling knowing you did something all by yourself.

Let me know what you have learnt since moving and if it's been an easy ride...

5 ways to make your new house feel like home

It has been over a year since I have moved into my first home and it has taken some time to make it feel quite like home. It can be hard moving, especially moving away from your hometown. I still have things that I want to buy but it's not going to happen all at once, and I think it'll take years to make it finally feel complete.

I wanted to share with you all how I made my own house feel like home...

Find your supermarket and takeaways
Ahh, food. I was so excited to see what supermarket and takeaways I would have and just as I moved we had Deliveroo too. It has been over a year though, meaning I do need to stop getting takeaways every week... but it's just so hard.  It definitely helps when you have a huge supermarket and a good few takeaways right around your corner, as when you don't have all the cutlery, plates and pans it doesn't make you feel that guilty getting a Chinese takeaway most nights.

Buy lots and lots of lamps

Before I got the house, my boyfriend and I bought the essentials - ASDA is the place to go. It was so exciting. It's crazy how excited you can get buying basic things like, cutlery and I just had to buy ten five lamps, because why not?! When I eventually moved in, each room just felt that little better.  I realised though that I did buy too many, and now have some spare waiting to be used on a rainy day.

Set up the internet. ASAP.
We had a week off with no internet, and the Amish life is not for me. You don't realise how much you actually need it. When you don't know how to work a complicated washing machine, I needed a tutorial.  It took a while to find the right provider and luckily, we have had no problems with it.

Making your pet feel settled

I didn't bring Kitty over straight away, he has only been used to one home, and the thought of taking him away from that broke my heart. Once we had the essentials and we felt a little settled, it was time to bring him. We bought a cage which ended in a disaster, as we couldn't find the perfect size for him as it was too small, luckily we have the right one now - a dog cage. He was so scared when he first got here by hiding under the TV cabinet, but now, he loves it here. We made sure everything was perfect for him, giving him lots of food and making sure this is a safe home for him. It felt a lot easier when he was here.

Have a lazy day doing nothing

I started my full-time job as soon as I moved in, so it was unpacking boxes until the late hours. However, the second day at my job, I caught a bug. This made me feel slightly bad, as it was my second day. Despite throwing up every 15 minutes, it was kind of nice just doing nothing, and getting used to the house that I will be living in for a good few years.

Let me know if you agree or how you made your new house feel like home in the comments.

Top picks | Netflix

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I am finding it hard to get into a TV show, I am either waiting for the next series of a show to start or spend my day looking at what is on Netflix, and not actually watching anything. I do this every.single.time. There are so many choices however I do feel A LOT MORE could be added on.
*Hint* Friends, Family Guy, Will & Grace, Malcolm in the Middle etc etc etc...

Please check out my top picks and let me know if you agree or if there is anything similar to what I've picked for me to watch. As I am in need of a binge.

Netflix comedy-drama

I LOVE THIS SHOW. Each season honestly gets better and better. The first season we see Piper as the main focus and dealing with life behind bars, as each season goes by, Piper becomes annoying AF, and we couldn't give a toss about her. What I love about Orange is how diverse it is, and every single character we meet is so enjoyable to watch. The only bad thing I could pick out (mainly my fault), is that I will watch it in about 3 days, then I would have to wait for a whole god damn year for the next one.

Comedy                                                                      ITS
Day man. Fighter of the Nightman. Champion of the sun, you're a master of karate, and friendship for everyone.

If you want to see randomness and Danny DeVito as a slob, this is the perfect show for you. There 12 seasons so this would keep you entertained for a good few weeks... you can thank me later. It is very well written and each episode will have you laughing in fits. Each episode and season will show the characters crack, fail in life and make a fool of themselves.

Netflix documentary
     ____ A ____

Ya? If you want an intriguing documentary, with ten long hour episodes, this is the one to go to. You watch the first episode thinking what else can happen?! And trust me, so much more happens. Series 2 should be coming soon...and I need answers!! You will be watching this thinking WTF and getting angry with how messed up society can be.

Something British...
"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

I adore British TV shows and could've chosen so much more, but firstly, the font matches well with it. Secondly, it is one of those you can just watch and find it just as funny as the first time. There aren't any other shows like this. This makes me want to work in IT and just play video games, and eat junk all day. From the loveable Moss to the sweet Richmond, it's genius.
P.s please don't watch the American version.

"Mrs D, Mrs I, Mrs FFI, Mrs T, Mrs U, Mrs LTY"

This movie puts you in the mood for pancakes and a MEGA chocolate cake. Who doesn't love this film? Another one with Danny DeVito, he has to be one of my favs for sure.  I can't get over how the film is 21 years old... WTF. I am not a huge movie buff, but I can watch this movie again and again.

I could pick a lot more but these are just a few to what I enjoy on Netflix :)

All my love,
