Why Self-Care is SO Important

Self-care to me is the most important thing. I stress out way too much about little things, the stuff I've stressed out about a week ago doesn't mean anything to me now. It's super important to make sure you are happy and feel comfortable in life as you will feel so shitty when you don't take care of yourself. 



I adore blogging, but it can be nice to take a break from it at times and be able to do what you want. Working full time, I sometimes want to come back home, eat and do absolutely nothing. It can be tiring to start blogging after coming home from work as when your mind is elsewhere you have no inspiration to compose any blog posts. I do love however having a blog and working full time, though I may not love my current job I do like the balance.

There are many ideas you can do to ease your mind to make you feel that little bit better. Even if you take care of yourself whether that's once a week or everyday, as long as you feel good, then that's all that matters. Whether you are looking after your mind or body, it's all important. 

15 self-care ideas:


Be Selfish 
    Do one thing that makes you happy. Forget anyone else and think of yourself. 

See a friend
   Have a good old catch up, binge a TV show or eat together. 

Unplug from social media
  Looking at Instagram and seeing someones 'perfect' life can become a real reflection of your own life. Their life probably isn't half the life they show on Instagram anyway. Get away from that for an hour or so and enjoy life. 

Delete negative people off your feed
    Why waste time and look at someone's profile when you know you're only going to get annoyed, take them off and focus on the people who are there for you and make you happy.

Take deep breaths
      Every time you feel anxious sit back, close your eyes and take 10/12 deep breaths. You will be focused on your breathing, meaning the situation won't be the focus of your problem anymore.

Play your favourite music LOUD
    Play music out loud and dance around your house or even while you're cleaning, for me, music gets me motivated and makes cleaning fun. 

Exercise
    If you're not a huge exercise lover, it may not be the best thing in the world, but once you've done a workout, you will feel tons better.

Take a quick nap
    A nap is always the answer to everything. 

Play with your pet (if you have one)
   Stroking my cat and kissing him on the head makes me feel 10000% times better.





Spend some dollar
    If you see a cake in a supermarket, buy it. There's a sale at your favourite shop, have a shopping spree

Have a home spa
    Put on a bubble bath, paint your nails, put on a face mask and wear that dressing gown.

Watch a film
 And by a film, I mean the cheesy chick flick with some popcorn and lit candles. Oh and tons of chocolate.

Have a cry
   Letting it out makes it better, don't let anyone think that crying is weak because it's not!!!!

Look at old photos
    'Memoryall alone in the moonlight. I can dream of the old days. Life was beautiful then'.

Hug someone
    A tight hug for a good 10 minutes is the only thing that can make anything better.

1 year of blogging // What I've learnt so far

I've been blogging for a year now. A whole year, and I am so glad that I started doing this. Working full-time means that it can be hard to put my all into it, but I love every minute of it. Some days can be tricky as not every day you'll get much motivation. I spend most of my evenings on my blog as I like to socialise at the weekend and though I may not be working on it, I'm still thinking about what I can do and get inspired for future blog posts. 

Blogging is so enjoyable and so much has happened in the space of a year. I have learnt soo much and thought I would share it with you all...



It takes a lot of work


It can be difficult working full-time plus working on a blog too, all I want to do when coming back from work is to unwind. Being at work looking at a computer and then coming home and doing the same thing can be tiring. It's important to give myself time to breathe.

I've learnt to balance the blogging life and not get too stressed, it may not be fun all the time, but I love it.

Don't compare


It's easy to think 'I can do that' but being different makes your blog unique.  I was a little scared doing all of this because I noticed so many trends people were doing and various ways they write or even do certain things but I think it's important to focus on what you know best rather than what others are doing.

It's dull seeing everyone be the same and it can be refreshing to see diverse things and people. Embrace your uniqueness rather than hiding it.

Write what you love and know about


Reading people's blog posts, you can think that it's a great idea, though it's a good idea for them, not for you. I have had more draft blog posts than published ones, as it doesn't resemble me or fit my blog.

Some brands can take the p*ss


Just because we write blog posts doesn't mean we will write about anything or everything. We want to be able to work both ways rather than giving the brand full credit, and then we get nothing back. When a brand wants to work with you be sure they truly want to work with you because when they say 'you can have 20% off anything', this doesn't mean jack to us. We can get 20% off retail stores when they have a sale without being a blogger so why should we use some small offer. No thank you x

Starting To Run // Tips

Me and exercise have never really seen eye to eye. I am quite a lazy person. In the past, when I have tried to run I would get a stitch right away and be out of breath but I am eager to start running more.

Finally, the weather is starting to be a lot better, the sun is out (sometimes), and I am finally motivated (ish). As a winter lover, I am so excited for the summer this year, not only are we going to America this year, Harry and I are going to become homeowners. I cannot wait BUT and that is a big BUT, I need to get my ass into gear.  Now, I don't need to lose a crazy amount of weight, but stupidly, I have bought all clothes that are a size 8... and these are a little tight.


Running is probably my least favourite type of exercise but I have no money to join the gym, and I want to prove to myself that I can do this. Harry and I have started to run and crazily in the short amount of time that I have been doing this, I have become so much better than I ever thought. I've been doing this for nearly two weeks now and was expecting a six-pack by now. It sucks how it's easier to put on weight than to lose it and tone up.

Here are a few tips if you wanted to start running:


Run with a partner

In the past, I would never push myself or was never motivated.  Running with a partner is a lot easier. Harry and I have started to go running together, he is a lot faster, meaning I have to catch up with him though it can be annoying as I hate it, it is also good in that I have become a better runner. I would always run the same pace or give up, being with a partner you can talk it through together, and help each other out.

Take your time

If only you could start running and not be out of breath within 2 minutes, unfortunately, that is me. I thought I could run a mile or so, but I can't even run 500 yards. It takes time, and it is easier going bit by bit, possibly going 4 or 5 times a week than doing a 5k run once or twice a week. You need to build up your stamina and know what works best for you, after running for a week now, I have noticed a tremendous improvement.

Make it a habit

Whether you think you don't have time, you do! Just go out there whether that's 5 minutes to half hour, it all adds up and pushing yourself out there means you can go despite whatever happens whether that's being on your period or raining. Just do it.

Have a good playlist

If your partner isn't available, music can help. I always find music soothes me a lot easier than running with a partner as you have to catch up with them and Harry likes to talk a lot. Music keeps you going and makes me motivated. 


And breatheeee

The first run I did (after many many months) I thought I was dying. I noticed my breathing was all over the place. Each time you run you get better without realising it.

Holika Holika Pig Nose Blackhead 3-step Kit | Review

For so long I have struggled with blackheads. There is nothing worse than looking into one of those close-up mirrors and seeing all your blackheads hanging out together. I have tried many many products to get rid of them from charcoal face masks to homemade products using baking soda (I heard this is good for the pores btw). NOTHING HAS WORKED. I want these bad boys to be gone.



After doing a little soul-searching I found this brand by Holika Holika called Pig-Nose, it's a 3 step (1 pack) blackhead pore strip. I purchased this from Amazon for £5.49. I wasn't too pleased I spent that much on a one-time thing and was hoping it would be a miracle product and take every single blackhead off my nose. Before buying this I wanted to do some research to see if this is good or not, but me thinking I clicked the 'bag' button... I accidentally clicked the 'Buy with one click' button, whoops. 



Step One

The first strip is a wet mask sheet that helps your pores open up. It was very slippery, so it was quite hard to put on at first. It was advised to leave this on for 15 - 20 minutes, and as I have a lot of these, I always like to keep it on for the whole 20 minutes.

I didn't feel anything had worked although when I did take this off, I looked into a mirror and I could see that my pores had opened up. After I had rinsed my nose, I was tempted to have a good squeeze on the blackheads, but I managed to stop myself.


Step Two

The second strip is a regular blackhead strip, before putting this on you need to wet the nose thoroughly as it will stick on better and hurt less when taking it off, then place it on for 10 - 15 minutes.

I absolutely love these as I'm one of those that enjoy seeing the dirt and blackheads come off on these. It's disgusting but it's like squeezing a spot, it's sooooo satisfying. Again, I like to leave it on a little longer just to make sure every one of them comes off (I wish!).  I pulled it off and was very disappointed to see that there were hardly anything on there. I've used cheap strips from Wilko's before and I've had better results. I was trying to be happy and smile on the fact that I spent nearly £6 on something that hasn't worked. As there is still another step, I thought I'd give that one a go too.


Step Three

The final strip was a tightening gel mask, this felt very refreshing and is meant to tighten the pores.

It was hard to put on as it was verrryyy slippery and gooey. The instructions said to gently 'tap' it for better absorption... I didn't get the memo to what they meant, and I couldn't see anyone doing anything special in any review videos, so ignored the 'tapping' part. Once it was off, my skin felt very refreshed indeed. 

Overall...
I wasn't that best pleased with the results. I did notice however that it was easier to squeeze my blackheads straight after, probably shouldn't have done this but a lot of blackheads did come off. 

Would I buy it again? No

BUT I don't want to say not to try it yourself as it could work on you, as it has worked on other people in the reviews that I have seen, just don't get your hopes up too much.
