Ribs 'n' Bibs Review | Lincoln, UK

I won a voucher on Ribs 'n' Bibs' Facebook page and with my diet pushed to Feb I thought why not go for a spot of lunch.

My boyfriend and I adore this place. We first went back in 2013 and won our first competition which was for a free meal. Since then I have lost count of how many times I have been there and also Harry has worked along with them making a video for them about The Story of our Pulled Pork.

Ribs 'n' Bibs is based in Lincoln and I feel this is what Lincoln needed. We don't have enough American Smokehouses and even now that I live in Peterborough (the place with nothing) I am happy to come back to my hometown and eat my weight in food. I'm all about quality over quantity, but this place does both.

It's loved by many people. Not only do they have the main menu they also introduce a lunch menu which is £5 each. BARGAIN! I ordered the 'Pulled Pork Texan Cheese Toastie' along with the beef chilli nachos and mac 'n' cheese... can you tell I love food? And as always I order way too much. I never learn.

As always the food was exquisite. I can never fault it though I do leave in a lot of pain... obviously my fault as I eat way more than I think I can. The drinks are also incredible selling American sodas and delicious cocktails. If you love this type of food, this is the place to go.

You can even make your own Ribs 'n' Bibs at home as they sell their own BBQ sauces (the cherry one is my fav). They provide wi-fi and produce a great atmosphere in a beautiful city. You will not be disappointed.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and let me know if you've been?

I BURNT MY FOOT WITH A HOT WATER BOTTLE!!

Hello to whoever is reading :)

I haven't been able to post as much as I wanted to as my time around New Years didn't come to a great start... and may I add I have been lazy AF and just wanted a little break too. It was New Years Eve Eve, and Harry (my boyfriend) was out picking up the takeaway (no surprise there), and I decided to do a hot water bottle...

Side note: I have always ALWAYS loved hot water bottles, it has become such a comfort thing for me to have. From anxiety to period pains, a hot water bottle has helped me so much. They make me feel so much at ease.

Back to Saturday evening and I poured the water into the bottle, may I say; fresh boiling water, and have no idea how but the bottle had just dropped right onto my foot. I have never screamed in such agony before. Hot water is really F**king HOT! The first thought was to take my sock off and immediately saw the skin peeling off. Tears were rolling down my face, I was shaking, and my foot was throbbing in pain. I was unsure of what exactly to do, especially being on my own, I could barely move to get my phone to call Harry. My first and only thought was to get a wet tissue and squeeze cold water on it.

Thankfully, Harry arrived with the view of me with my trousers off whilst sobbing on the floor (brilliant). He put the food down and asked what happened and in all honesty, I just wanted to eat the goddamn food. After telling Harry what happened, he was so supportive, and I am so lucky to have him because even when I do stupid things, he always makes sure that I am okay. We used a 5L water bottle from the Co-op as a bucket as we literally had nothing. We decided to call 111 and advised for us to go to A&E.

After waiting for 4 hours, with multiple blisters popped and a bandaged foot later, we finally left. I was advised to rest the foot for a few days, meaning we couldn't eat out which we originally planned, but we had a Chinese and binged Black Mirror (best series yet!)

I learnt to be careful the hard way unfortunately and binned my hot water bottle as I never want anything like this to happen ever again. If you do have a hot water bottle, then please be safe.

I hope this blog post helps you to be careful and here are some tips if you do use a hot water bottle regularly:

  •  After the kettle has boiled, wait a few minutes before pouring
  • Buy a microwavable bottle - it has taken awhile for me to adjust but they are just as good.
  • Making sure your bottle is screwed on tightly
  • Before filling your bottle, check it for cracks, splits, brittleness, breaks and other damages.

Thank you for reading and be safe.
